Mobile Patrol Units – what does the RAM tracking that RISK use do?

Visibility is paramount with any security package you go with, and having eyes and ears on your property at any given time is essential. But static security guards, manned guarding and complicated alarm systems can get really expensive, really quick.

Mobile Patrol Units

If you’re looking out for a great alternative to these solutions, look no further than a professional Mobile Patrol Unit from RISK Management Security. With our Mobile Patrol Units, you can be sure that our fully licenced guards have many purposes. They act as a visual deterrent against any potential misdemeanour. Their mobile nature also allows them to cover more square footage in a more cost-effective manner – great particularly if you have a large property.

We are proud of our Mobile Patrol Units and our teams stop at nothing to protect your business or property, providing an unrivalled deterrent. All our security vehicles are tracked using RAM tracking from our 24-hour control centre using the latest state of the art software that monitors and supports each patrol unit.

Vehicle Tracking System

Vehicle tracking technology allows the user to view the position of their mobile workforce through the use of a cloud-based software platform. Once the device has been fitted within your vehicle the GPS (Global Positioning System) will identify the GPS coordinates, which are then sent via a mobile network to our advanced control room.

By employing RAM tracking, RISK Management Security’s Mobile Patrol Units are well placed to secure your property by ensuring that all activity carried out by us is monitored. When you invest in our Mobile Patrol Unit services, the RAM tracking gives you the following benefits:

Control

RAM tracking provides us with real-time access to the activity of the tracker. By knowing every vehicle in the fleets location, speed and activity in real time, we can manage resources more effectively. If the unit requires backup, we can send it immediately without having to wait for anything to be phoned in.

Savings

The tracking system employed on RISK Management Security’s Mobile Patrol Units mean that there are no more wrong turns, inefficient cruising speed, wasted time or unauthorised detours. Communication from the control centre to the unit means that less money is wasted on fuel and unnecessary overtime bills. Money saved goes back on your bottom line. A more efficient operation means you can redistribute this money elsewhere in the organisation.

Success

The RAM tracking we use doesn’t just cut your costs, it gives us a competitive edge over other security firms who may be pitching for your business. Using our vehicles better means we are able to provide faster customer response. The fact that tracking allows us to provide you with detailed reports about our Mobile Patrol Units will improve our Service Level Agreement performance.

Innovation

The market-leading vehicle tracking devices that our tracking systems use have been invested in heavily for development and research, giving us the best vehicle trackers in the market. Using innovative technology to secure your location is a real reason to be cheerful and allows us both to blo our own trumpets!

Mobile Patrol Units from RISK

RAM tracking of this type is employed by companies in many sectors. Fleet managers use this system to keep track of their fleets, and haulage and distribution companies use them too. Using them to optimise the performance of our Mobile Patrol Units allows us to benefit from the same technology.

Vacant Property Inspections from RISK Management Security – how is this beneficial to me?

Vacant Property Inspections from RISK Management Security are there for you when you are faced with the following question: ‘What needs to be considered when you are faced with an empty property to manage?”

There is any number of reasons why a property may remain vacant. For example, if you are renovating an existing warehouse or other property, there is a period of time where it is not fit for habitation, but needs access. Your insurance company will be very keen to have a discussion with you about what you are doing to ensure that the property remains safe, and will lay out any requirements they have. They will also advise how to manage this moving forward.

Vacant Property Inspections for Insurance Purposes

They will usually ask two things. Firstly that the police and emergency services are informed of the vacant property so that they have a record of this should any incident occur. The second thing they ask for is for a Vacant Property Inspection to take place. Vacant Property Inspections allow you to satisfy the needs of your insurance company and keep your vacant property safe.

But what is a vacant property inspection, I hear you ask? At RISK Management Security, we take the following six steps:

Vacant Property Inspections – the 6 Steps

Survey

Ensure a full survey is completed to identify any areas of the site that are vulnerable and what measures can be taken to reduce the risk to the site. Particular consideration in any vacant property inspection should be given to the perimeter of the site and any means of access to the site and building, both entrances and exits and fence heights, etc.

Review the Environment

Consider the immediate area in which the property is located and look at surrounding buildings and the neighbourhood. If there are clear signs of building damage, vandalism and general criminal activity you might need to consider additional measures of security. Alternatively, there may be options to eliminate the disorder from the area by other means e.g. demolition of derelict buildings. A vacant property inspection should look at the number of other vacant properties in the immediate surrounding area and security measures taken in the area.

Health and Safety

It is very important to remember that as the owner of a property you have a responsibility under the Occupiers Liability Act to ensure the site is safe for all persons entering the property. A regular vacant property inspection of all areas would ideally be undertaken to report any areas that may have become dangerous or present a hazard to anyone who may use the site.

Services

Conduct a thorough review of the services required and leave on only what is essential. This will always include electricity to support systems such as lighting and intruder alarms but consideration should be given to heating, air conditioning and other plants/maintenance systems as to whether they are absolutely necessary. Your M&E contractor will be able to advise of the best approach as some systems have different settings to cater for changes in building use as part of your vacant property inspection.

Keyholding

With an empty property, it is vital that access can be gained either in an emergency or if other parties need to conduct repairs or view the building. It is therefore advisable to employ a local security company, like us here at RISK Management Security, who can hold keys under BS7984 conditions and provide a response to site 24 hours a day.

On-Going Maintenance

To dramatically reduce the risk of a building being targeted by criminals or attracting anti-social behaviour it is important to keep the area in good condition. This can be easily achieved by having a contract with a maintenance company to keep the area clean and tidy and who will ensure the general appearance of the grounds and building do not encourage abuse.

The “Broken Window Theory” means that if one window is broken and is not repaired you will very quickly find that others are broken. This applies to litter and the accumulation of, graffiti and other building damage. Vacant Property Inspections will identify these faults and allow you to plan.

Vacant Property Inspections – A Final Thought

When managing a building that is vacant be sure to prepare and be organised. Very often the building may have been occupied 24 hours a day and there may be many adjustments and checks needed to the systems and facilities to ensure they meet the requirements of insurers and offer suitable protection to the property.

As an example to the above, we recently took over vacant property inspections for a building previously used as a corporate headquarters that had been occupied 24 hours a day by staff and security. Due to this, the alarm had never been set and required extensive work to, firstly mobilise it and secondly meet the requirements of the insurers.

Risk Management Security Services have a completely hands-on approach to the security service provided and takes pride in the fact that all directors and senior management have an active role in delivering high-quality security services. Our operations team adopts a pro-active approach to each assignment maintaining good relationships with customers, security guards and vacant property inspection stakeholders.

What is a Lock and Unlock Service? What are the benefits of this type of security?

Unless you are a 24/7 operation, there will be a point at which one of your employees will shoulder the responsibility of arriving first and unlocking the property and someone will have to lock up every evening. This can be the most vulnerable part of the day for the business and for the individual involved as they are often on their own.
Lock and Unlock Solutions

Risk Management Security are proud to offer a Lock and Unlock Solution for your property or business. We will be the responsible key holder and go to the premises to lock and unlock the building at a pre-arranged time. Our team of highly-trained and professional, SIA-accredited Security Personnel are trained to deal with any eventuality that may arise.

We will work closely with you to ensure the correct procedures are followed as required by your insurance company. Our lock and unlock service allows you more flexibility in the hours you work without the responsibility of securing the building. Our security officers are highly trained and will lock and alarm your premises at specified times, following your individual company procedures.

Key Holding

Through our own resources, we are able to provide a centrally managed Key Holding Service with the major benefit of a local response vehicle to attend alarm activations.

If your alarm is going off, there is a number of reasons why it is not convenient or safe for you to attend. Is it safe? What will you be presented with upon your arrival? If it is the weekend, have you had a drink and unable to drive to the property? Risk Management Security Services will provide alarm response and keyholding services to deal with alarm activations so you and your staff don’t have to – no matter what time of day or night.

Benefits of employing a Keyholding Company:

+  Avoids driving to site when you may be over the legal drink drive limitAvoids being disturbed at inconvenient times e.g.. when asleep, Christmas Day and social events
+  Avoids anyone being exposed to potential danger either on route or once at site – Corporate Manslaughter Act
+  Avoids office staff remaining on site out of hours resulting in reduced productivity the next day
+  Avoids providing cover for your own or staff holidays
+  Avoids potential compensation claims from staff who may suffer an accident or are attacked and injured whilst acting as a key holder attending an alarm response
+  We will respond 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Our lock and unlock service, mobile patrol team and keyholding solutions are a highly effective, cost-efficient alternative to our more robust manned guarding services at securing and keeping your premises safe. Not only does it prevent staff members potentially forgetting to lock up the premises or keys being lost out of hours, but it also increases the safety of your staff, as they are more vulnerable when locking or unlocking a property. Risk Management Security’s mobile security teams specialise in protecting the people, property and assets of your business at a reasonable cost.

As a Small Business owner, will I EVER go on a worry-free holiday?

There are many rewards to being the owner of a Small Business Enterprise (SME). As the owner of the business, you are your own boss and can’t be fired. This means you have the freedom to make the decisions that are crucial to your own success. You can be creative and put your skills and knowledge to good use. You’ll gain personal satisfaction from implementing your ideas. You will also directly benefit from your own hard work.

Yet, whilst running your own business is no doubt very rewarding, there are a great number of risks to consider. As a business owner, you ARE the business. You must consider the competition, your employees, delegating responsibilities, the bills, potential equipment breakdowns and client issues to name but a few. There is also the issue of physical security.

Why would you NOT want a holiday?

People often start their own business so that they will have more time to spend with their families away from the traditional 9-5 grind. Unfortunately, running an SME is extremely time-consuming and many people find the exact opposite to be true.

Taking a holiday is something that many SME owners simply do not allow themselves the privilege of because they are scared of what will happen when they are away. They think that time away from the business is time lost and holidays are often overlooked.

Even if you can get away, most business owners leave their phones on and have their time away interrupted. This is harder to escape than ever these days with the constant intrusion of all the devices we carry around.

Is taking time off really worth it?

But taking a break is great for you. Time away from the office can reduce stress and therefore increase emotional stability and creativity. You come back from a really good holiday with increased motivation and therefore switching off once in a while is a great thing to do. You can also take the time to reconnect with the loved ones you work so hard to spend time with.

Getting away from the grind is a good thing for your mental wellbeing and also your physical wellbeing. As we get rundown, we become more susceptible to illness and infections. Taking time away from the hustle and bustle allows our immune systems to recover and help keep us healthier in the longrun.

So why don’t more SME owners take this time off? The stress of considering who will take care of the company when they are away and what will happen in an emergency rate highly among the reasons. Who will attend an emergency in your absence? Who will open and close the property in your absence?
