Supporting Ride the Wall.
At Risk Management Security Services, we believe it is important to remember and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. This year, we are proud to support Ride the Wall, a moving tribute that helps keep alive the memory of fallen soldiers and provides vital support to their families.
We dedicate our support in memory of Private Robert Foster, known as Robbie, of the 1st Battalion (The Royal Anglians – “The Vikings”).
Robbie made the decision to join the British Army at just 17 years old, surprising his family with his determination to serve. He completed his training in Catterick, North Yorkshire, and despite his age, he felt a strong duty to deploy alongside his regiment to Afghanistan. As Robbie said to his father, “I am a fully trained soldier, I need to go with my mates.”
During his tour, Robbie’s spirit shone brightly. His humour, optimism, and ability to lift morale made him a valued friend and comrade. Even in the toughest conditions on the front line, he found ways to keep those around him going. After returning home for R&R, Robbie spoke of the harsh realities of the conflict, but his loyalty to his fellow soldiers meant he was determined to return and stand with them.
On the 23rd of August 2007, Robbie gave his life in Afghanistan. He was just 18 years old. His family, friends, and regiment remember him as someone whose glass was always half full, whose laughter filled every room, and whose bravery and loyalty defined his short but meaningful life.
We were honoured to hear Robbie’s story from our good friend John Foster, his father. It is with deep respect and gratitude that we make our donation in Robbie’s memory. In addition, our colleague Louise Wilson will proudly be riding to the wall on 4 October as part of this year’s tribute.
Robbie’s sacrifice — and that of so many others — reminds us that freedom is never free. Through Ride the Wall, we hope to ensure that Robbie and all who gave their lives in service will never be forgotten.
All gave some. Some gave all.
